Subject: Garage repairs and my delivery van

Hi Marcus,

I got the notice about the garage resurfacing that starts on the 14th, and I want to sort something out before the crews arrive. I run a small catering business, so my van is not a car that sits in a stall all week. I load it at about 5:30 a.m. four mornings out of seven, and I usually return around 9 p.m.

The notice says residents in stalls 40 to 78 will be moved to the visitor lot on Halstead Street for three weeks. I appreciate that you found space, but the Halstead gate is locked until 7 a.m. That would cost me my morning deliveries, and I cannot reschedule the hospital contract I signed in March.

I am not asking you to change the schedule for one tenant. What I would like is a temporary spot in the loading bay behind the recycling room, or an access fob for the Halstead gate so I can let myself in early. Either one solves it. If neither is possible, please tell me soon, because I would need to rent commercial parking two blocks away and my insurer requires ten days' notice before the vehicle changes its overnight address.

One more thing: the notice did not mention whether the elevator to the garage will be shut down as well. Two residents on my floor use walkers, and they will need to know.

Thanks for looking into this,

Dana

Hi Dana,

Thanks for flagging this early rather than on the 13th. The loading bay has to stay clear because the contractor is staging equipment there, so I cannot offer it. The fob, however, is straightforward: the Halstead lot is ours, and I can program a fob for you tomorrow. It will open the gate from 4 a.m., and it expires the day the garage reopens.

Come to the office between 9 and 11 to pick it up and sign for it. There is a $25 refundable deposit.

On the elevator: the east elevator stays in service the entire time. Only the west one goes offline, and only for the first four days. I will post that on both notice boards this afternoon, since you are right that it was left out.

Marcus
