Subject: Status of my transcript evaluation
Hi Marisol,
I submitted my transcripts and diploma from my civil engineering degree, completed in Morocco in 2016, along with certified translations, about ten weeks ago. Your website says standard evaluations take six to eight weeks, so I wanted to check on the status before assuming something is wrong.
I also have a question about the process itself. I noticed the evaluation report distinguishes between "full equivalency" and "partial equivalency with bridging requirements." I have four years of post-graduation work experience as a structural engineer, two of which were on projects supervised by a Canadian-licensed engineer. Does that experience count toward reducing any bridging requirements, or is it considered separately from the academic evaluation?
Finally, I was told by a colleague that some applicants request an expedited review for a fee if they have a job offer contingent on the assessment. I do have such an offer, conditional on receiving at least partial equivalency within the next month. Is expedited review available, and if so, what would I need to submit to request it?
Thank you for your time,
Ibrahim

Hi Ibrahim,
Thank you for reaching out. Your file shows a delay because your translated transcripts required a follow-up verification with the issuing institution, which added roughly three weeks beyond the standard timeline. That verification was completed yesterday, so your file has now moved to final review, with a decision expected within ten business days.
On your work experience: it is considered, but separately from the academic transcript review. Work experience can reduce the number of required bridging courses once academic equivalency is determined, but it cannot substitute for missing academic content entirely. Supervised experience under a Canadian-licensed engineer typically carries more weight in this calculation than unsupervised experience, so your two years should be relevant here.
Expedited review is available for a $150 fee, but only after the standard evaluation is complete, since expediting applies to the appeals or bridging-plan stage, not the initial transcript review. Given that your file will finish standard review within ten business days regardless, expediting now would not meaningfully change your timeline. I would recommend waiting for the standard result first and revisiting the expedited option only if you need to appeal or fast-track a bridging plan afterward.
I will email you directly once the decision is issued.
Marisol
