Email: Delayed order from Northgate Home Goods

Read the email and the reply, then answer the questions.

Subject: Order #NH-58231 still not delivered

Hello,

I placed an order for a dining table and four chairs on October 3rd, and the confirmation email promised delivery within twelve business days. It is now October 22nd, nineteen days later, and the tracking page still says "Preparing for shipment." I have called the warehouse line twice this week and both times was told someone would call me back within 24 hours, which never happened.

I understand delays occur, but I specifically chose Northgate over a competitor because your website advertises guaranteed delivery windows with compensation for missed dates. I would like to know two things: first, when the table and chairs will actually arrive, and second, whether the promised compensation applies here, since the delay is well beyond the twelve-day window I was quoted at checkout.

I am hosting a family dinner on November 1st and had planned around having the new table by then. If the order cannot arrive before October 29th, I would rather cancel and receive a full refund, including the $45 delivery fee I already paid.

Please let me know how you would like to proceed.

Priya Ramchand

Dear Ms. Ramchand,

Thank you for your patience, and I apologize for the delay and the missed callbacks; both fall short of what we expect from our team. I checked your order directly with the distribution centre in Barrie. The chairs are in stock and ready to ship, but the table was affected by a supplier shortage that was resolved only this week. A new shipment left the supplier's warehouse yesterday and is expected at our distribution centre by October 26th.

If you would like to keep the order, we can guarantee delivery to your address by October 28th, one day ahead of your November 1st deadline, using expedited courier at no extra charge. If you would prefer to cancel instead, we will refund the full order amount, including the $45 delivery fee, within five business days of your request.

Regarding compensation, our guaranteed-window policy applies to orders delayed past the quoted twelve business days, which yours has been. Whether or not you keep the order, we will apply a $30 store credit to your account for the inconvenience; this is separate from any refund and does not require you to keep the order.

Please reply by October 24th to confirm whether you would like the expedited delivery or the full cancellation, so we can process it in time.

Sincerely,

Customer Care Team, Northgate Home Goods
