CELPIP Listening Practice Tests

CELPIP Listening checks whether you can follow everyday spoken Canadian English. Our free tests copy the official structure — a practice task and six scored parts with 38 questions — and, like the real test, each clip plays only once.

The six Listening parts

Official CELPIP-General Listening has these parts (about 46–55 minutes in total):

  • Part 1 — Listening to Problem Solving (8 questions)
  • Part 2 — Listening to a Daily Life Conversation (5 questions)
  • Part 3 — Listening for Information (6 questions)
  • Part 4 — Listening to a News Item (5 questions)
  • Part 5 — Listening to a Discussion (8 questions)
  • Part 6 — Listening to Viewpoints (6 questions)

How to improve your Listening score

Because you hear each recording once, note-taking is the key skill. Write short keywords — names, numbers, reasons, changes of mind — rather than full sentences.

In conversations, listen for the speaker's final decision; CELPIP often includes a first idea that is later changed. In Viewpoints, focus on why the speaker holds an opinion, not just what it is.

What our Listening tests include
