The four Reading parts
Official CELPIP-General Reading takes about 43–56 minutes:
- Part 1 — Reading Correspondence (11 questions)
- Part 2 — Reading to Apply a Diagram (8 questions)
- Part 3 — Reading for Information (9 questions)
- Part 4 — Reading for Viewpoints (10 questions)
Strategies that work
Read the questions before the passage so you know what to look for. In Part 3, many answer options are true in general but not stated in the paragraph you are matching — always find the exact sentence.
Manage time by part rather than by question. If one question is taking too long, choose your best answer and move on; you can't afford to run out of time in Part 4.
What you get after each test
A score out of 38, an estimated level, every question with the correct answer marked, and short explanations. Signed-in users can ask for an optional AI explanation of a question they got wrong.
